North High Art Collectors (NHAC) have been organizing a school-wide art competition for students enrolled at Sheboygan North High School. This competition is open to all, gr. 9-12, students. NHAC is proud to announce that Kelsey T and Meghan B received the 2012 Open Award and Senior Award, respectively. These works were selected by staff and students.

Congratulations to the following art students for placing at UW-Sheboygan’s Annual High School Art Competition. They are: Jordan B (Senior Drawing: Second Place), Madeline T (Freshman Ceramics: Third Place), Joshua T (Senior Ceramics: Second Place), Anna M (Senior Ceramics: First Place) and Ayanna S (Junior Painting: First Place).

The Advanced 3-D Design students are creating small ceramic busts starting at 4″x3″x5″ and up. They are using the hollow method to make them. Here is a small sampling.

Join Us on Saturday, May 12th as we make history in the City of Sheboygan. As a matter of fact, in the state of Wisconsin, as we paint a street mural on 12th & North Avenue in Sheboygan.

Below is the design that we will be painting. Design was created by Urban Middle School art students under the direction of Mary Starnitcky, art teacher.

The Art Department continues to showcase student artwork during EXPO.  Along with works of art, it provides students of all ages (including adults) face painting through student volunteers. There was never a dull moment. 

‘Paint the pavement’ initiative may be first of kind in state, Sheboygan Press, May 2, 2012

A group of middle and high school art students led by Urban art teacher, Mary Starnitcky and North art teacher, Frank Juarez, will be creating a large street mural on the intersection of 12th & North on Saturday, May 5th starting at 8am.  

This project took about a year of planning and now it will be making history, right here, in good ol’ Sheboygan. 

The community is invited to participate in this one-of-a-kind project.

The Art Foundations 2 students are continuing to work on their understanding of positive space, negative space and nonobjective design. They just finished a unit on art metals centered on these three key concepts. 

Taking their thumbnails from the art metals unit or creating new ones, they are to select a non-objective design that will stimulate the production of a 3-Dimensional object called Sculpture in the Round.

Randall’s will be reopening on May 1st under New Management. New owner, Wendy Vera, approached Mr. Juarez to see if North High Art Dept can provide artwork for her restaurant, which has a dedicated wall for student art. The following art students have art on display; Eng C, Naomi S, Nina K, Leah N and Annya E.
