Art Foundations 3 will provide the student with a more in-depth approach to explore varied media in two-dimensional design. Students will build on basic techniques and skills learned from Art Foundations 1 & 2. Students will be given the opportunity to explore new media as well. This course will focus on composition emphasizing the fundamentals of materials, tools, and ideas used in art. Coursework is based on state and district standards adopted for the art curriculum. Course will include artist research, art vocabulary, art concepts, exploration of various cultures, self-reflection, and group critiques. Students should expect quizzes/tests on techniques, vocabulary terms, and art concepts. Students are expected to keep an active sketchbook. Students are responsible for all handouts and note taking. They will have the opportunity to attend art exhibitions. They will be required to purchase some materials.
