The second year of Art Foundations will provide the student with a more in-depth approach to media explored in two-dimensional design. Students will build on basic techniques and skills learned in Art Foundations 1 and 2. Students will be given the opportunity to explore new media as well. This course will focus on composition stressing the fundamentals of materials and ideas used in art (Elements and Principles of Design). Course work is based on state and district standards adopted for the art curriculum. Course will include artist research, vocabulary, concepts, exploration of various cultures, and written critiques. Students are expected to keep an active sketchbook. Students are responsible for all handouts and note taking. Research paper is required. Students will have the opportunity to attend art exhibits. Purchase of some materials will be required.
