Drawing Intensive offers the students an in-depth approach to various techniques and processes related to drawing. Drawing will be used as a tool for diagramming ideas, creating marks to develop style and communicate visually the student’s point of view. Students will conceptualize ideas for complex compositions based on the Elements and Principles of Design. Coursework is based on state and district standards adopted for the art curriculum. Students will develop an increased art vocabulary for responding to class and self-critiques. Students will explore and refine technical skills. Media explored such as but not limited to: pencil, chalk, charcoal, pen and ink, colored pencils, Prismacolors and ink washes. Students will be required to keep an active sketchbook. Artist and individual research is required. Students will have the opportunity to attend art exhibits. Students should expect quizzes and tests on techniques, art vocabulary and concepts. Students will be required to purchase some materials.
