Megan’s initial thoughts about creating an abstract painting without any direction made her use a lot of imagination and discovered that her best approach was going with the flow. She defines abstraction as a work of art having different colors with no initial planning resulting in using her emotions to represent her work.
Her assignment was to produce an abstract painting based on prior knowledge of the use of Elements and Principles of Design as well as using her feelings to express herself through color, texture, juxtaposition and so on. Once she was finished Mr. Juarez and Megan had a discussion as to how she created this painting, what she liked about it, what would she do differently and finally saying that she will have to produce another painting based on her previous experience.
Her painting, “No Direction” was influenced by a time in her life where she felt trapped while searching for a better path. “No Direction” is a 15.5 x 15.5inch acrylic painting.
