Art Foundations 1 & 2 is a year-long course that provides an in-depth background in two and three-dimensional design.  This course will focus on composition stressing the fundamentals of materials and ideas used in art (principles and elements of design). Course work is based on state and district standards adopted for the art curriculum.  First semester will cover two-dimensional work: focus on drawing techniques, color theory and painting.  Second semester will cover three-dimensional work: focus on sculpture, pottery, jewelry and printmaking. Students will be required to keep an active sketchbook. Students will be responsible for all handouts assigned research and note taking. Students should expect tests and quizzes on techniques, art vocabulary and concepts.  Students will participate in self and group critiques.
